And it's about damn time.
During Millen's inglorious and infamous 7+ years as GM, the Lions compiled a record of 31-84. Millen had zero player development or front experience prior to being handed the job by owner William Clay Ford.
And brother, did it show. The Lions never had a winning season under Millen and never even sniffed so much as a wild card playoff berth. Millen's #1 draft picks were notorious failures/busts--QB Joey Harrington, WR Carlos Rogers and WR Mike Williams. On top of that mess, from 2001-3 the Lions never won a single road game. That's 0-24, kids.
But 0-24? Who cares! Ford still gave Millen a 5-year contract extension in 2005...after a 3-13 season! Good God. (This explains a lot why the Ford Motor Co. is floundering.)
I know Lions fans and most of Michigan must be rejoicing this morning--particularly my buddy, Eric, who I expect to me an IM filled with exclamation marks as soon as he arrives to work.
Maybe a long era of utter futility and ineptitude is coming to a close for Lions fan. For the moment, they can at least hope so.
Side note: I'm really, really jealous. Why can't Al Davis just up and leave? I know, I know, never. Sigh.

Good riddance!
Now if we can get the Fords to sell the team to somebody that is interested in winning instead of selling tickets, we may have a chance to make the playoffs again.

Now I wish someone would just buy the Bengals from Mike Brown. If that happened, the NFL would be perfect.
