"Buy me some peanuts and Cracker Jack...."
Just not in certain sections of Seattle's SAFECO Field during two up coming Mariners home games.
Yeah, that's right. Peanut and Cracker Jack sales will be banned from sale in Sections 311 and 312 during games on Aug. 5 and Sept. 9 games. They're also banning sales of peanuts and Cracker Jacks from certain concession stands in the park.
The brief article gives no hint as to why the Mariners are pulling this stunt. (To draw the handful of people allergic to peanuts to watch our MLB-worst team, I suppose.)
OK, in all seriousness, I realize and appreciate that some people are allergic to peanuts. I'm really sorry about you missing out that shell-filled goodness. But if one is so deathly allergic that they have to have a special section set aside because they can't even be near peanuts (if one can even sustain such a deadly reaction to mere airborne "peanut dust" is even possible) or, God forbid, one might step on a shell with their shoes or have a shell fall on their lap, here's an idea: You probably shouldn't be outside in the first place!
Apparently other ballparks have had similar "days" at their parks, too.
I feel like going to these games, sitting in these sections and sneaking in some Fiddle Faddle. Or a PB&J sandwich. Just to see what happens.

How do you get the peanuts out of all that crazy granola up there in the Pacific Northwest, Peter?
I don't know how you put up with that!
Are sections 311 and 312 empty now...I bet they are.

I can't. Finding sane and reasonable people up here is about as rare a Mariner 2-game winning streak this year.

Considering they're way off in upper right hand corner of the ballpark, no doubt. When the blows, it blows out toward right. (No joke, the park was designed for Griffey Jr., so the power alley is right center and right field.) Of course this means peanut dust will, if there's a wind, blow in that direction. Smart thinking, eh?
