Dear Tampa Bay Residents, About Your Devil Rays....

The Tampa Bay Devil Rays--those Devil Rays--have the best record in Major League Baseball and are in first place in the AL East.

And the fans are going wild! In fact a whole 10,511 showed up last night!

Seriously. 10,511. A whopping 25% of the ballpark's capacity.

Padron my French, and I know they were playing the Texas Rangers, but you gotta me fucking kidding me.

Here's an idea, Tampa Bay residents: Get off your lazy asses and get to the damn ballpark.

If you can't support them now, when will you support them?

Peter,

You forgot the Marlins are 10 games over .500 this year too and not drawing any fans. What's going on?

BTW they are the Rays now, not the Devil Rays. Tampa dropped the Devil part.

Cheers,

Bill

You know that the Tampa Bay baseball team is now the Rays, right? The Devil Rays not longer exist and with them went their losing ways. But seriously call them the Rays, I'm not even a fan but show a little respect will ya!

I'm old school, what can I say.

And why should I show the Rays (correct) respect when even their fans won't show up to watch a first place team?

I'm kidding on both accounts. ;-) I'm entitled to my minor team-name forgetting gaffes.

Oh, I didn't forget. I'm actually quite aware of the Marlins record. However, I think the Rays story is a LOT of more surprising considering the sorry history of the franchise (the Marlines have 2 WS titles in less than 20 years!).

As for Florida and baseball. Hell, I don't know why neither team draws when they play well. It baffles me, honestly. Maybe it just boils down to Florida not being a baseball state, that's as reasonable of an answer as any at this point.

Heck, you guys are from Florida, right? Tell me why you think it is, I'd be really curious.
