Tigers Declawed By Royals

Do the Detroit Tigers miss OF Curtis Granderson? Yes.

Did they miss 3B Miguel Cabrera today with a quad injury? Yes.

Are these 2 things any reason for the Tigers potent offense to muster only 5 runs in 3 games and get swept by the lowly Kansas City Royals to open the season? No.

Is this any reason for Tigers fans to panic? No, not yet. At least until they know more about the extent of Cabrera's thigh injury.

However, even sans Cabrera, this is not a team that should be stymied by such a meager pitching staff as the Royals. Scoring just 5 runs against that staff is like a man bowling a 37. It's a little pathetic. (Sorry Mr. Obama, I'm still not letting you off the hook for that.)

The Tigers offense will look to get back on track this weekend in a 3-game series against the Chicago White Sox.
