USC Stunned by Kansas State 80-67

An eleven seed beating a six seed by 13 is supposed to be an upset and it actually was but K-State owned this game from the beginning. They took a 10 point lead into the half and fought off every come back attempt USC could mount in the second half.

The key to this game wasn't shooting although Kansas State out shot the Trojans 48% to 42% from the field because they actually stunk at 57% from the free throw line compared to USC's 70%.

The key was rebounding and Kansas State owned the boards all night with a +13 rebound advantage. That is dominating at this level.

Obviously an eleven seed winning in the first round is big news but it also means that it will likely face only teams above a six seed the rest of the way.
