Stanford crushes Cornell 77-53

This was another 1st round game that was actually over at halftime. Stanford went in with a 21 point lead and had stuffed Cornell to the tune of only 17 points. You don't win many games at this level when you only post 17 points in an entire half.

Once again, the second half was a better game but I don't think Stanford was playing exactly "lights out", if you know what I mean. The Cardinal dominated this one in every aspect; shooting over 50% from the field including 45% from the arc. The Big Red actually had more shots but a combination of a stifling Stanford defense and just poor shooting made that a mute point.

The Cardinal took care of business and looked pretty solid doing it. Stanford's next step is Marquette who beat Kentucky today. Marquette will offer a much different challenge to the boys from Stanford; a real defense.
