A commenter to my Olympics post of yesterday wrote-
So what exactely is the purpose of this article?
To which I replied-
Its sports related news and I felt like posting it?
And I got this reply-
It has no informative value what-so-ever.
My reply- If you don't like what is posted to this blog, you're welcome to join us as a contributor.
Wizbang Sports at present has four contributors, counting myself. Of late I been doing the heaviest posting and I got cancer that requires me going to treatments four days a week.
What do I write about at Wizbang Sports- Anything I want to write about. Kevin, the owner of Wizbang, has never laid out to me what I can or can't post about at any of the boards I contribute at. The same goes so far as the other contributors at the blogs. If a story interests me, I write about it plain and simple.
My sports interests may be considered narrow, and I will admit to it. My favorites are football but mostly the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets, NHL Hockey but primarily the Florida Panthers, and Pro golf. After that comes horse racing, though I rarely attend these in person any more. I follow these sports heavily and therefore I write mostly about them.
I watch little basketball, pro or college, my baseball viewing has waned for at least a decade, and tennis and auto racing rarely stir an interest in me.
However if you go visit this blog, you'll find my fingerprints all over the blog including sports topics above that I say rarely interest me. I've written about chess there, polo, a golf course next to an active volcano, to a sports game hobbyist who I met while pursuing the same hobby as he and this person then died on 9-11, and many other topics. If I got something to contribute, I write even if it is only to make a wisecrack.
Take for instance this post. Did you know the only time the Miami Heat won in their last 24 games I was on a Catholic retreat at the time?
OTB Sports owner James Joyner doesn't tell me what to write about. The blog has 25 listed contributors, but I've probably written 35-40 of the last 50 posts at the blog. We can use help there too.
If you don't like what I write about here, complain to Kevin. A lot of good it will do. Better yet, join the blog as a contributor. You can write on any sports topic that amuses you then.
Unless some other sports news happens, my next post will be a 2008 LPGA preview. How many bloggers do you know that have been credentialed to cover a sporting event? I have.
Update- I've written 14 of the last 15 posts at this blog and 44 of the last 50 at OTB Sports. So come on and join us.

Heh. Yeah, I barely have time to write at my main blog anymore, let alone the side blogs.

Keep writing, Bill. I'll keep reading. Wizbang Sports is the only place I've seen a post regarding Kenechi Udeze, the Vikings player who may have a form of leukemia. The few sports blogs I've found cover East or West coast teams; they never bother with us up here in Minnesota.

Isn't that the whole point of blogging - that it is personal?
