Seahawks Name Mora New Head Coach....for 2009 (Wizbang Sports)

Yup, that's right. No, the Seattle Seahawks didn't fire current head coach Mike Holmgren, they just announced his replacement in 2009: Jim Mora.

Holmgren still has a final year left on his contract, so he will be the 'Hawks coach next year. Then Mora will take over in 2009. He is currently the 'Hawks assistant head coach and defensive backs' coach.

Hmm, interesting. Very interesting.

I think I kind of like this move. Makes for a nice smooth transition between the two coaches. What authority Holmgren can wield over the players next year seems a bit dicey on the surface, but I can't see how it'll be too much of a problem, either.

At least that saves the pain and time of looking for a coach.
