Nuggets Interested in Jermaine O'Neal?

nba_jermaineoneal.jpg

The Indiana Pacers are currently shopping Jermaine O'Neal to the highest bidder.
The Pacers are struggling with 21 wins in the eastern conference. O'Neal has been
out since January 16th with a bruised left knee. It is undetermined if O'Neal will
make a comeback this spring. He may very well be sitting out just because the
Pacers are not a competitive basketball team. If O'Neal would like to play again
this season (and Nugget team doctors believe he can), then the Nugget's front
office should consider a trade with the Pacers.

Kenyon Martin and Nene for Jermaine O'Neal is a trade that makes sense for
both organizations. Larry Bird has had a very strong interest in Nene. O'Neal is
a talent that gives the Nuggets a big three like Boston in the east. Plus Denver
would have a very strong bench. Even with this trade the Nuggets should
continue to shop for a wing.

Ben Gordon has been named in several trade rumors over the past week. Gordon
doesn't have the ideal size for a shooting guard, but he would be an excellent
pickup for the Nuggets. Especially if the Nuggets had 3 players that command
attention (AI, Melo, JO), Gordon would have lots of open looks at the basket. The
Nuggets can pick up Ben Gordon for Eddie Najera, Linas Kleiza, and a future first
round draft pick. Lets take a look at what the Nugget's rotation would look like.

Center: Marcus Camby
Power Forward: Jermaine O'Neal
Small Forward: Carmelo Anthony
Shooting Guard: Allen Iverson
Point Guard: Ben Gordon

6th Man: JR Smith
Rotation: Steven Hunter, Chucky Atkins, Anthony Carter, Yakhouba Diawara

The Nuggets should investigate these two deals. Talk about a stacked
conference, damn. These two trades could put the Denver Nuggets over the top
to win an NBA championship.
