I think this young man has a much higher view of himself that is healthy.
The tumultuous Xavier Lee era -- at most times baffling and in rare moments brilliant -- is over at Florida State. Lee, the former quarterback at Daytona Beach Seabreeze High who became one of the best high school football players in state history, is not enrolled in classes at Florida State and will not return for his senior season, according to his parents. Lee's father, Willie, told the Sentinel Sunday that his son decided to leave the program when FSU coaches informed him that he would no longer play quarterback. According to Willie Lee, Seminoles offensive coordinator Jimbo Fisher recently asked Xavier Lee to move to tight end. Willie Lee said his son, a redshirt junior, will not transfer to another school and instead will prepare for a probable invitation to the NFL Scouting Combine, where Lee will hope to catch the notice of scouts and improve his stock for the NFL draft. -- Orlando Sentinel
Let's review the history of this "NFL Prospect". Lee tallied 19 games at Florida State and piled up a cumulative QB rating of 80.1. He had a 50.2 completion percentage and only 122 yards per game. He tossed 15 touchdowns against 11 interceptions.
It is safe to say that Mr. Lee will not be considered favorably as a quarterback at the next level.
Will he go to the combine and interview as a tight end? Lee is 6-4, 238 lbs which is small compared to most pro tight ends. He has also never executed a blocking scheme at any level. Worst for Lee is that he has a history of poor ball handling; fumbling four times in one game this year. That's a really bad thing for NFL receivers; just ask Indianapolis.
Seems to me that the only thing in Xavier's bag ready for the NFL might be his attitude.
