Brett Favre could spare us another off-season of "will he return or won't he" talk, but instead he's elected to play coy again. Although this time his coyness leans a little more toward a definitive answer than last year when he left the issue completely up in the air (and had that tearful moment while walking off the field). Brett told the Biloxi Sun-Herald:
Each week, I bring more stress on myself wondering if this is too good to be true. I want to continue the streak and winning. When I talk about the streak, it's not the [consecutive] starts; it's the hot streak we are on. Then, I ask what can I do better?I am trying to enjoy it because this could be my last game in Green Bay. For the first time in three years, I haven't thought this could be my last game. I would like to continue longer.
Unless something really bad happens like a terrible injury or an illness, Brett Favre will be back next year. Of course, Brett doesn't want to just say he'll be back, because then he won't get the enjoyment of everyone speculating as to his future status. I don't know if Brett's little waffling act comes from mischievousness or some deeply-rooted need to be loved and appreciated ("Please come back Brett...pleeeeeeease."), but I sure wish he would quit it. Seriously, it's annoying. It's like Barbra Streisand launching a farewell tour when you know good-and-well she'll be staging a comeback performance a couple years later. Brett Favre is a great quarterback, and it's a shame for me to have to compare him to Barbra Streisand.
