Romo's Bad Game Sinks Cowboys (Wizbang Sports)

Golden boy Tony Romo saw some of his sheen get rubbed off today at home against the Philadelphia Eagles. With his girlfriend Jessica Simpson looking on, Romo played by far his worst game of the year, throwing 3 interceptions and no touchdowns, and generally appearing out-of-sync. Not that the Eagles put on some kind of stellar offensive show themselves - they managed only 10 points, but that was enough to defeat a flat Cowboys team 10-6.

Romo was not only cursed by the presence of that D-list bimbo Simpson - he also had a bad thumb, which clearly hindered his ability to grip the ball. Give Romo credit for toughness; he stuck it out the whole game, and had a chance in the 4th to lead his team to victory. But a bad throw in the direction of a slipping Terrell Owens, one which ended up in the hands of Eagle Brian Dawkins, sealed the Cowboys' fate, sending them to 12-2 on the season.

The loss could prove costly for Dallas, given an earlier win by the Green Bay Packers which elevated that team to 12-2 as well, and put them back in the running for home-field throughout the NFC playoffs. The Cowboys hold the tie-breaker by virtue of their win over Green Bay this season, but should they stumble again and the Packers wind up gaining home-field, a lot of people will look to this very winnable game against Philly as the one that really hurt.
