Michael Vick wanted to get a head-start on serving time for his dogfighting conviction, so today he turned himself in to U.S. marshals. It's still three weeks until Vick is scheduled to be officially sentenced.
Vick's whole motivation in entering jail early is to get his sentence over with as fast as possible, and avoid losing even more precious time off his career. After jail he'll have to serve a long suspension, and then the process of finding a team desperate enough to sign him will begin. Given that guys like Vinny Testaverde, Trent Dilfer and John Beck are able to get jobs as NFL starting quarterbacks, I don't think Vick will have much trouble securing work. I predict the PR hit for whatever team takes him won't be as bad as people expect either. It'll be far enough down the road that even hard-core animal rights protesters won't care that much. And honestly, if Ray Lewis can come back from being accused of knifing some people to death, shouldn't Vick be able to rebound from snuffing a couple of pooches?

The Eagles need a new quarterback, they just haven't come to that realization yet... Maybe by the time Vick is free, they'll be ready.

Given that Vinny Testaverde, Trent Dilfer and John Beck are presently employed as starting NFL quarterbacks, I don't think Vick will have much trouble scaring up a job.
Big difference is that those 3 didn't commit felonies and serve time.

It's another thing to also be acquitted of a crime by a jury of your peers vs. committing a crime where the evidence is so overwhelming and grotesque that the defendant (Vick) decides to admit guilt, forgo a trial and do the time.
Also, provided Roger Goodell is still NFL commissioner when Vick gets released, I would imagine he'd keep Vick's suspension in place. To lift it would make any future punishments or suspensions coming down his office as meaningless and powerful as any U.N . resolution.
