Steelers Go Belly-Up Against Jets

The Steelers were supposed to roll into the Meadowlands and kick around a floundering Jets squad. But it didn't happen. Instead, the Jets stole one from Pittsburgh, 19-16.

The Jets played Steelers-style football - running it with Thomas Jones, stuffing the run, whipping out the occasional trick-play (a flea-flicker from Clemens to Coles was a big one for New York). Meanwhile, the Steelers surrendered 7 sacks, and were unable to get Willie Parker on-track. People were starting to think the Steelers deserved to be talked about as a serious threat in the AFC, but this loss drops them well behind New England and Indy, and even behind Jacksonville and maybe Tennessee.
