The Rams looked like they were finally getting their mojo back. They had Steven Jackson back on the field, and after consecutive wins were looking to make some noise against the division leading Seattle Seahawks.
Unfortunately, things quickly turned dark again for the Rams. QB Marc Bulger, who's more fragile than Britney Spears's mental state, had to leave the game early with a combination of injuries including a concussion. The Rams, who actually led Seattle at that point, inserted journeyman Gus Frerotte and saw the game slip away from them, finally losing it 24-17.
Things looked similarly bleak for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, who saw starting QB Jeff Garcia hurt his back early in their home game against the Washington Redskins. But the Bucs' back-up, Brad Gradkowski, actually came in and did a decent job for them, avoiding turnovers and helping the team to a huge 19-13 victory.
Washington's own quarterback Jason Campbell, who nearly led the team to a comeback last week against Dallas, aided Tampa's cause by throwing two picks, one in the fourth quarter after the Skins had penetrated well into Tampa territory, giving themselves a chance for a game-winning TD. The Skins' loss drops them to 5-6, a game behind Detroit for the second wild-card. Tampa meanwhile runs their record to 7-4, and maintains their two game cushion over the Saints in the NFC South.
