Boston Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia and Milwaukee Brewers third baseman Ryan Braun were named as very deserving Rookies of the Year in a report by ESPN.
Pedroia, who got off to horrendous start, finally lived up to the hype. With his monster of a post-season, he helped carry the Sox to their second World Series in 4 years. (A personal note to Dustin: Sorry for calling you Justin in an earlier article.)
The little known Braun beat out Colorado's Troy Tulowitzki by just two votes. Braun's feat here is even more impressive when you consider he was a late-May call up. To hit .324 with 34 homers and 97 RBI makes you wonder what he could do with 2 more months under his belt.
Personally, I was hoping the guy with baseball's greatest "baseball name" would have stayed healthy the entire season to give Braun a run, but Houston's Hunter Pence finished third in the NL voting.
Rooks are a hard lot to judge of who and will not become MLB's real future stars. But this year's voters are typically good in giving the award to the most deserving players, and this year's crop gets no argument from me.
Congrats to all the "kids"!
Tomorrow's AL Cy Young winner gets announced. Prediction: Boston's Josh Beckett. Duh.
UPDATE:
Oops. Tomorrow are the AL and NL Manager awards. I was thinking today was Tuesday. I guess I want the week to end already. Not a good sign....

Eh... I think C.C. will get the Cy Young. As much as I want Beckett to win it, C.C. has more IP, a lower ERA, and only 1 less win. There was a 3rd stat in there I can't remember. I'll be happy if Beckett wins, but I won't be upset if he doesn't.

Oh yeah, C.C. Also has more strikeouts... I just remembered the final stat.
Anyways, as I said. I hope Beckett wins, but I won't be surprised or upset if he doesn't.
