The Oklahoma Sooners saw their National Championship hopes go up in flames yesterday at the hands of the Texas Tech Red Raiders and their QB Graham Harrell. Oklahoma, ranked number 4 going in, was behind 27-10 by the half and ultimately lost 34-27.
Another Big 12 powerhouse, Kansas, kept their own championship dream alive by crushing Iowa State 45-7. Sophomore QB Todd Reesing threw 4 TDs in the victory.
Missouri is still in it too after dispatching Kansas State 49-32. And West Virginia stayed alive by beating Cincinnati 28-23.
Be interesting to see what rankings the BCS monkeys scratch out later today. LSU will still be number one after knocking off Mississippi 41-24. And after that? Presumably, Kansas would move up to 2. They're the only undefeated team still remaining in that mix.
And I guess we can't entirely dismiss Ohio State, as a reader pointed out yesterday. I personally think the Buckeyes should be disqualified from championship consideration this year just based on their pitiful effort in last year's title game against Florida, but that's not up to me is it?
Georgia and Virginia Tech fans - feel free to rip me for ignoring your teams too. And Boise State and Hawaii backers may now gripe about the BCS shafting your squads as well. Where's the love for the WAC man?

Thankfully no, it's not up to you. With that logic, we should just dump the 2007 season and crown Florida as the repeat National Champions, if we're just going to base this year off of last year's results, with last year's teams.
