McNabb a No-Go

Donovan McNabb is all banged up. He has a bad thumb and a bad ankle, and was unable to participate at all in practice today with the Eagles.

This means that, most likely, McNabb will not be able to take the field Sunday when the Eagles face the incandescently hot New England Patriots. McNabb doesn't seem all that busted up about the situation, saying:

You want to have all of your faculties intact before you get back out and be competitive again. You want to be smart, but you also want to go out there and play.

Mostly you want to be smart though. Smart enough to realize that your team is going to get drilled and you'd rather be on the sideline watching it than out there getting it yourself.

I'm guessing Donovan's ankle and thumb probably are hurt, but maybe not so hurt that Donovan couldn't play if he really wanted to. But of course Donovan knows the deal - it's the Pats. So he figures, "Eh, I think I'll give myself an extra week to heal up. No reason to rush things."

I always knew Donovan was a smart guy.

And there is proof positive... (Below threshold)
Clancy:

And there is proof positive why the Eagles will never amount to anything w/McNabb. He's simply collecting a paycheck and Cannot be a LEADER (Ever wonder why Garcia dd so well last year?) And Reed lets him get away with it because he sucks as a leader too...
