At the heart of the scandal was Keating's Lincoln Savings and Loan Association, which took advantage of deregulation in the 1980s to make risky investments with its depositors' money. McCain intervened on behalf of Charles Keating with federal regulators tasked with preventing banking fraud, and championed legislation to delay regulation of the savings and loan industry -- actions that allowed Keating to continue his fraud at an incredible cost to taxpayers.

What a dumbass!
When he opted out of his contract, he cost the Yankees $21 million over three years which the Rangers would have been obligated to pick up. The Steinbrenners aren't taking that out of THEIR pockets - it's coming straight out of A-Rod's.
Now, there was no doubt he is still the best in the game, but there should have been some realism over who might be able to afford him. To make a real killing as a free agent at his price level, he needed at least three teams who could afford him to be interested. Without the Mets, Cubs, Red Sox, White Sox, or Dodgers playing, that left the Angels with no competition to bid it up.
Those sort of things should have been known before he opted out of his old deal, and that's what you pay an agent to do. A-Rod should fire Boras - but he's probably locked into a guaranteed contract for the next 20 years or so . . .
