Dear NFL Rules Committee:
Your timeout loophole is showing. I think you good people know what I'm talking about. But if not, let me refresh your memory.
Back in Week 2, in the Raiders/Broncos game, the Raiders had driven the ball down to the Broncos' 36-yard line in overtime. (More like stuffed it down their hapless D's throat, but I digress.) The Raiders called upon Sabastian "I Definitely DON'T Do Steroids" Janokowski to kick a 52-yard field goal.
The snap was good. The spot was good. The kick sailed up and through the uprights! Good! Game over! The Raiiiiiiiiiders win!
Not so fast.
Seems Denver coach Mike "Al Davis' Personal Nightmare" Shanahan called a last-second timeout to the side judge referee as Janokowski was in his stride to kick the ball. The kick was no good. Re-try.
The snap was good. The spot was good. Only this time the ball clanged off the very top of the left upright. Broncos get the ball, jam it down the Raiders throats and score on a chip shot. Game over. Broncos win.
Fast forward to week 3, Browns vs. Raiders. Same thing, only Cleveland, losing by 2, picks apart the Raiders secondary and gets down to the Raiders 25 yard line for a last second 42-yard field goal. And guess what happens?
Yup, Raiders coach Lane "I Swear I'm Over The Age of 21" Kiffin calls a last second time as Cleveland kicker Phil "No Relation to Len" Dawson boots it through the uprights for the W. Nope. Bring the ball back and kick it again, son.
Raiders block the second try. Game over. Raiders win.
Jump to this past Monday Night, Cowboys vs. Bills. Same thing again, this time the Cowboys claw their way to the Bills' 35-yard line. You can imagine what happens next.
Dallas kicker Nick "Kumbaya, My Lord" Folk nails the kick (barely)! But, blah, blah, blah, timeout, blah, blah, blah. Kick it again. Blah, blah, blah.
Folk makes the second attempt (barely). Backfire! Game over. Cowboys win.
Look, here's how I see it: If you folks can make it a penalty for spiking the ball after some clown makes a first down (a new rule I really, really like, by the way), and you can call a penalty on a defensive lineman just for breathing on the quarterback the wrong way, do you think you could see your way to outlawing this "last-second-call-a-timeout-while-the-kicker-is-in-his-stride thingy? It's really lame and belongs on the school playground. (Wait, I'm sure playground football isn't allowed during recess anymore. Too many lawsuits.)
How lame is it? About as lame as me trying to imitate Chris "I Need A New Shtick" Berman. So change it now or in the off season, but for the Love of God, close the loophole.
Sincerely,
A Passionate NFL Fan
P.S. Just to give myself credibility, I'm a lifelong Raiders fan. And the loophole is still lame.
P.P.S. Denver sucks. I'm taking great joy in their fans misery. I can only it gets worse for them.

LOL at the Raiders Fan. Sucks to be you, no? The only thing worse than a Yankees fan.

And just like Yankee fans, we can also play these trump cards, too:
3 rings to your 2.
3-2 in Super Bowls vs. 2-5 for you.
;-)
And it's OK. We love to be hated.

i disagree, as soon as a timeout is called and the kicker gets a second chance after MISSING it, the trend will end
