Heat blow out Mavs, tie series 2-2

After the Dallas Mavericks took a commanding 2-0 lead over Miami, the White Hot Heat have come back winning games three and four to tie the series 2-2. Not only have they technically tied the series, but they have also taken over the Mavericks confidence and took it for their own. Ever since Miami came from behind 15 points in the fourth quarter to win game three, their offense and defensive presence has been larger than TO's ego.

After the dramatic game three win, Miami shot 51.5% in game four, while holding the Mavs to 31.6%, including Dirk Nowitzki's 2-14 sub-par shooting performance. And, although Miami turned the ball over 18 times, they forced Dallas' 14 turnovers. Miami out rebounded the Mavs 48-36 and added nine more assists than Dallas, all on the way to a 98-74 route.

Dwyane Wade commented in the game four post-game conference, "For the first time in this series we played good as a team and we just want to continue to do that coming in to (Sunday's game five)."

As for his newly found confidence D Wade explained, "I'm in a rhythm now. I'm able to look and see the defense come before it's coming and make my moves."

In the playoffs Dirk Nowitzki has averaged 27.2 points on .471 shooting and 11.7 rebounds. In game three and four losses, Dirk has averaged only 23 points on .324 shooting and a mere eight rebounds, he has also committed seven turnovers. When asked in game four's post-game press conference about Miami's defense, he gave the Heat's defenders no credit.

These and many other comments have sparked a feud between the two teams in this series. It has been reported to D Wade that the Mavs have considered him a poor shooter and that he is faking his injuries for the cameras. In the game four conference he noted that, "No I don't care. I don't have to fake. When I'm hurt I'm hurt, when I'm not I'm not.

"It's the finals you know, we not best friends. We could care less what they say and they care less what we say."

Dirk did blame the recent struggles of the Mavs on his own teams play while giving some credit to the Heat. "They played with a lot of confidence (on Wednesday). They made shots; they moved the ball well...So really they had everything going.

"On the other hand we really couldn't get much going. Lot of shots were already down, came back out. Bottom line is if you shoot 31% from the floor, you know you're not gonna win."

And that is the truth. No team can expect to win an NBA championship shooting so poorly. After playing so disappointingly Dallas figured that things could not get worse, and again, they were wrong.

Yet another blow was given to the Mavericks on Thursday after it was announced that Jerry Stackhouse would be suspended for a game five because of a hard foul he committed on Shaq in game four. In the post-game press conference after Wednesday's game four Jerry called his actions "just a hard foul to make Shaq earn his points at the free-throw line." NBA officials disagreed assessing him with a Flagrant Foul Penalty Two and a game suspension without pay. Jerry has averaged 13.5 points and 2.5 assists in post-season play for the Mavs.

With one more game left in Miami, and a possible two games in Dallas, it is truly how Dwyane Wade said, "Right now it's two teams out there going on to battle versus each other, going to war."

If Dallas hopes to put up a fight, they will have to regain their confidence that Miami so powerfully stole away from them and turn it into a victory; otherwise Miami will be going home crowned champions.

Jan Fernandez:

looks like the heat is on its way to its very first title. Picture Payton and Zo, holding their rings. Heat will win the series. Mavs blew it. On the bright side, the mavs are still a young and dangerous team. This maybe just their baptism thru the playoffs and in the finals. Look for them to give it a big fight on GAME 6.
