QB Poll (Wizbang Sports)

Today's Yahoo! Sports NFL poll:

Question: Who'll get his team to the playoffs first? (9793 votes since May 4 2006) Cutler: 36% - 3528 votes Leinart: 39% - 3836 votes V. Young: 25% - 2429 votes

I voted for Leinart for a few reasons:

The Broncos will most likely make it to the playoffs in at least one of the next two years, but I don't think Jay Cutler will be their starting QB until at least 2007/8, if that. Cutler will be an excellent NFL QB, but he's not going to start this year.
Vince Young will do okay with the Titans, but he's too Mike Vick-ish to lead a team to anything. I don't see him as much of a leader. Plus, the Titans are in one of the toughest divisions in football -- to get to the playoffs, they'll have to do better than the Colts and the Jaguars.
Dennis Green has a thing for switching QBs around. Witness what he did the past few seasons, especially last year when Kurt Warner was hurt. However, Matt Leinart already has enough skill to start, and the rest of the pieces are already in place; the Cardinals have a good enough defense, the best WR duo in the NFL, and Edgerrin James for dump passes. Plus, with James, teams now must respect the run, instead of dropping seven guys in coverage. Whether with Warner or Leinart, the Cards will make a serious run for the playoffs.

Now this isn't to say that Leinart would be awesome immediately if the Cards start him in week one, but having an experienced QB to learn from can't hurt. If Young, Cutler, and Leinart were to start every game in 2006/7, though, I predict the Cardinals would be the team most likely to make the playoffs, followed very closely by the Broncos. And, if you look at the poll results, I think you'll find that the rest of the country pretty much feels the same way.
