At the end of the NBA regular season most placed their bets on the Detroit Pistons and the San Antonio Spurs facing off in an epic battle for the world championship. Change your bets ladies and gentlemen, there's a new game in town. Though the Detroit Pistons wiggled their way through the first and second rounds, their top game was left in the regular season. No longer are they the unstoppable force that every team was afraid of, the team to beat in the playoffs. Now playing the Miami heat, the Pistons have to work harder than they ever have before or there will be nothing left for them but a plane ride home. Miami has the powerful duo of Dwyane Wade and Shaq that seems to be unbeatable, as long as they work together. Already up in the series 1-0 Miami must keep their A-game and their strong bench-play in order to pull of the upset.
On the other side of the country comes the battle between the Dallas Mavericks and the Phoenix Suns. Both teams coming off exhausting seven game series will have to find every ounce of strength deep within to call themselves Western Conference Champions. Though Phoenix found the easier second round series playing the Los Angeles Clippers, they still have tremendous talent with MVP Steve Nash and all-star Shawn Marion. Even with these tremendously talented players, Phoenix will have to play better than they have been all season to win this series. Not only does Dallas have tremendous confidence after knocking out the defending world champions, but they are hungry, they want to win no matter what. The main problem that Phoenix will have to address is defense against one of the most powerful players in the league, Dirk Nowitzki, who is averaging 27.1 points per game in the playoffs. Dirk is by far the best player that Dallas has, but Phoenix cannot forget about Jason Terry, Jerry Stackhouse, and Josh Howard.
All and all, no team is safe. But expect to see Miami and Dallas facing off for the championship, and Dirk Nowitzki hoisting the Larry O'Brian Trophy as finals MVP.

To be the champs you have to beat the champs. Dallas will be crowned NBA champs this season. They are deep, athletic, and Nowitzki is under-rated. They also have the best young coach in the league. The Suns will be tough to beat, but I think they will find themselves in the Finals this year. I guess you have to go with Heat in the East since they are up 3 to 1. However, dont sleep on the Pistons. They were the best team all season long for a reason. That series will go 6 maybe even 7. However, Dallas has to much fire power for both Detroit and Miami.

this year is the year of the Mavericks...though Shaq still demands respect and Wade is a phenominal player, the Dallas Mavericks have too many weapons on both sides of their game...Miami will have just as tough time trying to stop Dallas' defense as well as their high powered offense....and when it comes to Dirk Nowitzki and his unstoppable play, Dallas seems on the verge of greatness (something Dallas fans have waited 26 years for). Dirk, can you say MVP!!!
