Offensive Stars

As of about 6:30 this morning, 90,000-plus people had voted in the following poll on NFL.com:

Which of these offensive stars will have the biggest impact on their new team?
37%: Terrell Owens, DAL
26%: Edgerrin James, ARI
20%: Daunte Culpepper, MIA
11%: Drew Brees, NO
6%: Antwaan Randle El, WAS

I think some folks might have been reading "offensive" as "someone who offends", not "someone who plays on the offense".

For the record, I voted for Edgerrin James. If Arizona can put together a respectable offensive line and protect Kurt Warner, defenses will have to start playing a lot harder against the Cardinals. They have two offensive juggernauts in Anquan Boldin and Larry Fitzgerald, and Adam Bergen and Bryant Johnson aren't bad either. With Edge in the backfield, teams will have to start respecting the run, which means more shorter, higher-percentage passes as well as lots of long bombs in down-and-distance situations where one would assume a power run.

TO will certainly have a semi-positive effect on the Cowboys' offense, but not as much as any of those other players (except maybe Randle El, who seems best known for gadget plays, three-receiver sets, and the return game).

I think Bill Parcells is th... (Below threshold)

I think Bill Parcells is the perfect coach for Owens. Keyshawn Johnson has been pretty tame under Parcells, so I look for T.O. to put up some big numbers. It will be interesting to watch the Philly fans' reaction when Owens steps onto Lincoln Financial Field next year. I think Daunte Culpepper will have a negative impact in Miami with all his interceptions, fumbles, nad sacks. That fat ass could have a bigger impact on the offensive line.
