ESPN and CNN report that Daunte Culpepper has been traded to the Miami Dolphins in exchange for a second-round draft pick. From KARE-11:
Early Tuesday afternoon, the Minnesota Vikings confirmed internet reports that Daunte Culpepper has been traded to Miami for a second round draft pick. Officials with the team had no further comment. It wasn't long ago that Daunte Culpepper was the toast of Minnesota and its football fans.
His size, arm strength and rushing talent promised years of excellence at the quarterback position.
But as quickly as he rose to pro bowl status and peak popularity, Culpepper has tumbled.
[...]
[T]he serious doubting started in October, when Culpepper tore three ligaments in his knee.
[...]
Last season, Culpepper threw more interceptions than touchdowns, before the season-ending injury.
And then, there was Lake Minnetonka - Culpepper was accused of touching naked lap dancers and later charged with lewd conduct.
Paul Allen, who also does play-by-play for the Vikings on the radio, says the layers of misery piled up.
"He's a very prideful individual and a very sensitive individual," Allen said. "And he saw the team go on a winning streak without him. I think he kind of took it personally."
That brings the former pro-bowler to this week, when he told the team he once led: Trade me, or let me go.
[...]
Maybe in Miami, Culpepper will have the chance to regain the statues he once enjoyed in Minnesota.
As a lifelong Dol-Fan, I was really hoping for Drew Brees, but Culpepper's still an upgrade (all respect to Gus Frerotte, who did a good job last year, but isn't a long-term starter). After what Nick Saban pulled off last year with Ricky Williams, I think he can probably make Culpepper his next big project and turn him back into a pro-bowler.

Josh,
How many ligaments are in a knee.....I'll give you "3" guesses.
I agree, they should've got/went for Brees.
Oh well

I'm a life long Viks fan & I liked Daunte, but I never thought he was a Superbowl QB. I like the trade. I wish Daunte well in MIA (unless he plays the Viks), but I think the Viks will be better off w/o him.
