Texas Showdown

If you only watch two more NBA regular season games this season, make sure that one of those two is tonight's contest between Dallas and San Antonio. And depending on where these two teams are in the standings at the time, you might want to also circle April 7th on your calendar.

In all probability, whoever wins the Southwest Division will also capture the coveted #1 seed in the Western Conference. Whoever finishes second will likely finish fourth. Which means that with respect to the Phoenix Suns, the Western Conference Finals may very well be played in the second round between Dallas and San Antonio.

Which, of course, makes tonight's contest as close to a playoff game as you could possibly get with home court advantage for that potential second round series on the line. This game represents a chance for Dallas to put just a little separation between themselves and the Spurs. Considered how hot Dallas has been of late winning 19 out of their last 20 contests, it's not inconceivable to think that if the Mavericks win tonight and stretch their lead over the Spurs to two games, they could hold that lead through the end of the regular season.

The fact they could do it in front of a nationally televised audience, including Charles Barkley who apparently has yet to watch a single Mavericks game this season, just makes for gravy for this intriguing matchup.

Even though the Mavs Lost to the Spurs. I still think Mavs Would definitely be in contention this year along with the Phoenix Suns. We have known the Mavericks to be a offensive team over the years. But not this bunch! Mavs-Suns in the Western Conference Finals!
