Marquette Loses in Own Tournament

The whole point of hosting your own basketball tournament is to beat up on some weak teams in order to get your own team in synch for the season. Marquette has succeed in that mission since 1997 in their Pepsi Blue & Gold Classic. Tonight, the Golden Eagles Warriors couldn't rebound and defend the three so they lost to Winthrop 71-64.

This may portend a long inaugural season in the Big East or start thinking about Winthrop as a team that could really mess up brackets next March.
