No "D" Costs Colts

If I were Payton Manning I'd demand that a new Colts stadium be outdoors and have real grass. The Colts took another loss to Patriots in Foxboro. It was snowing, cold, and the field was a mess. More realistically, he should demand that Tony Dungy build a defense that is at least average. Dwight Freeny, the Colts best passrusher put little pressure on Tom Brady. He's a turf defensive end who disappears on grass. The inability of the Colts defense to stop Patriots long scoring drives minimized Manning's passing attempts and thus the Colts' scoring opportunities. In the third quarter with the score 13-3, the Colts' punter buried the Patriots inside their own 10-yard line. If the defense would have stopped Kevin Faulk on a third and long Manning would have had good field position. Instead, the Patriots march down the field and score a touchdown that sealed their win.
