Week 12: Turkey Day Picks

When the Cowboys (3-7), Bears (4-6) and Lions (4-6) are 3 of the 4 marquee names for this special afternoon of NFL, er, . . . excitement, could the day be any more perfectly named? With games like this who needs tryptophan to make them fall asleep on the sofa?

As usual, my picks are in Italics.

Colts vs Lions

My boy Joey Harrington is NOT the key to the problems the Detriot Lions are having.

He’s got a QB rating of 80.5, which is stellar considering the Lions win-loss record, has only thrown 7 picks (same number as Peyton Manning) and has thrown 14 TDs. That last number may not be eye-popping, but is still respectable and still gives him a 2/1 TD to INT ratio.

So why all this talk by the loser talking heads on ESPN about whether or not Joey needs to be replaced? For what reason? To give Mike McMahon (career rating of 54.9) or Rick Mirer (63.5) a chance to get lead the team? Puhleeeeze.

And the Colts D will help Joey, RB Kevin Jones and WR Roy Williams all look like locks for Hawaii.

That said, the Lions may as well stay home and eat dinner with their families. They’ll feel a lot better afterwards.
