My picks are in Italics.
Ravens vs NJ Jets
Two teams with excellent running games. Two teams who play the run well.
The Baltimore Ravens should get the better end of the rushing exchange, because Jamal Lewis is a stronger back and just as athletic as NJ Jets RB Curtis Martin. Baltimore also has the 7th ranked rushing defense. The Jet’s rushing D is ranked 11th.
The problem for Baltimore is that they have the 32nd (as in LAST) ranked offense overall), which means that on an average week their passing game is about nil.
That lack of balance vs the Jets, while the Jets are solid on both sides of the ball, has me giving the nod to the Jets.
Yes, Quincy Carter is starting at QB for the Jets. I like his athleticism and I think his mobility will be a deciding factor in this game.
Steelers vs Browns
For all the hype over Pittsburgh Steelers QB Ben Whateverthehellhisnameis, the Steelers passing game is still only ranked 26th. That’s one spot behind QB Jeff Garcia and the Cleveland Browns passing game.
And that’s about all the good that can be said, statistically or otherwise, about the Browns.
And, hey, the guys in the bumblebee suits have been good to me this year and I still can’t stand Cleveland Browns head coach Butch Davis.
Go guys in bumblebee suits!
Bengals vs Redskins
These two teams are abysmally bad and I pity anyone forced to watch this matchup.
I’ll just say that the ‘Skins D is ranked #1 overall and should not have a problem against Cincy.
This doesn’t have anything to do with who my boy Joe Gibbs coaches, or the fact that Cincy ho-slapped my Broncos a few weeks ago.
No, really.
