Points of Interest: Week 2
1. Gunther and KC’s D.
After 2 weeks KC is ranked 26th overall (up from 29th for the ‘03 season), but 32nd (as in DEAD LAST) vs points scored, allowing 62 points.
Who’s to blame? Defensive personnel that everyone outside of KC knew were worthless? Gunther for not teaching, motivating and coordinating to the degree that was expected – and anything else that can be pushed off on him? Or Dickey for his idiotic and self-defeating choices during the off season?
2. Right reasons, wrong outcomes.
The Broncos, Packers and Redskins were all favored to win their games in week two.
They all significantly outperformed their opponents (Jaguars, Bears and Giants, respectively) statistically.
The also all lost.
It really bites when you perform to the level you’re expected to, then can’t get it done in the one area that really matters: scoring points.
Stats don’t mean a burning bag of crap if you can’t cross the goal line or split the uprights.
3. OC Gilbride gone, result the same in Buffalo.
Looks like, despite a good off season and possession of what was assumed to be one of the better RB tandems in the NFL, the Bills offense will be abysmally bad again this year. That’s too bad, because it looks like they’ll have one of the best defenses again, too.
4. How’s Seattle’s defensive secondary holding up?
5. Raiders going nowhere in a hurry.
6. How’s Michael Vick adapting to the West Coast Offense?
7. Who is this years most fraudulent 2-0 team?
