So, Gunther is the answer to KC’s defensive woes and the Chiefs have the most powerful offense in the NFL. Or not.
KC came into Denver favored to win by 3 pts. Then they lost by 10 pts. A 13 pt turn around.
– Priest Holmes had an excellent day and even seemed to run better later in the game. He ripped Denver’s vaunted run defense for 151 yds on 26 carries, a very impressive 5.8 yds per carry.
And that’s about all the good that can be said for the mighty, mighty Chiefs.
Was Denver smart to trade away elite RB Clinton Portis for elite CB Champ Bailey?
Portis replacement, Quentin Griffin, humiliated KC all day long, running for nearly 6.8 yds every time he touched the ball, racking up 156 rushing yds on 23 carries, bettering Holmes yardage total and his per carry average.
Holmes’ longest run was 33 yds. Griffin’s longest was 47.
Holmes ran for 3 TDs. Griffin ran for 2 and caught another.
