Human Battering Ram

Due to injuries, Wisconsin lost three of their tailbacks. What did they do? They gave it to their fullback, and boy did they give it. In 2003, 270-pound Matt Bernstein carried the ball 29 times for 120 yards. Against Penn State, he rushed 29 times for 132 yards most of those in the second half.

Penn State's defensive coordinator Tom Bradley said, "Bernstein was playing as a tailback. (Greg Root) was the fullback. They're not running backs. They're guards." With both backs listed as 270 pounds, he's almost right. Bernstein and Root would have been guards 10 years ago.
