Won't he still have to deal... (Below threshold)1. Posted by Tom Schaller | August 5, 2004 2:54 PM | Score: 0 (0 votes cast)
Won't he still have to deal with his one year suspension? Does a one year retirement count toward that? Sense the suspension isn't official yet, I doubt that the time will count. So, if he fled football to be free of having to take responsibility for his actions, he'll have to unretire, return to the Dolphins, and let the league tell him to leave again.
And he may not be free to go to the Raiders, regarldless of any of that.
When Barry Sanders left the Lions while still under contract, it was determined that if he came back, he would have to fullfill the remainder of his contract with the Lions. He remained contractually obligated to them. Any years spent in retirement would be treated as nothing but a break in service.
Ricky has screwed himself, and he's too stupid to know it.

Nonetheless, Raiders fans like myself can't wait to have another druggie on the team! With ecstacy-popping Darrell Russell gone forever, drunk kicker Sebastian Janikowski straightening up his life and pill-popping center Barrett Robbins waived, we need Ricky to fill the void! Committment to excellence, baby!
Too bad about the retirement and the suspension. RB is our one week spot this year (no, I'm not being sarcastic).
