Vet Or Leader / Talent Or Winner

It is kind of interesting that last week I heard three separate conversations from three different sports sources about the topic of what constitutes a real winner and a true leader in sports. Some interesting names came up in the conversation:

The ESPN football crew were at Cowboy's camp and of course Keyshawn was the center of conversation. Mike Ditka commented that Johnson doesn't run out plays after the catch while younger receivers would run for the end zone, even in no contact drills. In another piece, the name of Jerry Rice came up and of course what was being discussed was his gameday attitude with everything he did. It is no secret that his ability to play well into senior citizenship is due to his dedication to training. Rice has also always been know to be one of the most dedicated practice players on the team.

Last week, the US Men's Basketball Team were in full practice and participated in their first warm up game against Puerto Rico. Allen Iverson, who was named as a co-captain for his country, was benched for the game along with LeBron James and Amare Stoudemire for being late to a pre-game team meeting.
