DEVELOPING -- AP is reporting that at least one member of the USC Trojan Football team, defending National Champions, is under investigation by the Los Angeles Police Department Robbery and Homicide Division for alleged sexual assault. The alleged incident took place early in the morning of Monday, August 16. XTRA Sports 690 and 1150 is reporting tonight that third-string running back (yet still pretty damned good) Herschel Dennis missed practice today for a "violation of team rules" and confirmed earlier internet rumors that up to fourteen players may be under investigation.
RB is a deep position for the Trojans, and the potential loss of Herschel Dennis should not impact the Trojans' prospects for the season. Yet, as Dennis or any of his team mates who may be under investigation remain innocent until proven guilty, yet this will nonetheless be a distraction as the National Champion Trojans seek to defend their title, starting in eleven days. UPDATE: The Los Angeles Daily News reports that, "Sources said the incident took place at a small party Sunday night, and involved a female friend of Dennis. According to multiple sources, the alleged victim did not formally accuse Dennis but remembers that he was at the party while she was being sexually assaulted."
