Preseason Game 4: vs Texans

This is a summary post. For the full article, including links to related articles, go here

Denver's 1st team D seemed to utterly fall apart, allowing Houston RB Domanick Davis to average 7 yds per carry and RB Tony Hollings a 6.1 yd average.

They also allowed QB David Carr to complete 61.5% of his passes and lead back to back scoring drives to open the game, including one that took the Texans 77 yds in just 4 plays.

Denver had more 1st downs (21 vs 17 for Houston), a better 3rd down conversion percentage (43% vs 31%), better Time of Possession (32:11 vs 27:49), more total yardage (422 vs 333) and a higher per play average (6.5 vs 5.6). But all was not well in BroncoLand.

Denver averaged a yawn inspiring 3.9 yds per run, compared to Houston’s 5.8 yds. Denver’s pass completion percentage was at a lowly 52%, while the Texans, even with an ho-hum performance from Tony Banks, was right at 60%.

Thankfully, Denver had a much higher average on yds per pass play (9.2 vs 5.2).
