KC's D Set Up For an Early Collapse

It wasn’t bad enough that Kansas City Chiefs Head Coach "Cryin’" Dick Vermeil elected to pretend that all was well and good with the defense in the Land of Red and Gold.

Most fans and writers outside of KC rightly identified Vermeil’s delusional state early on.

First, KC’s best LB, Mike Maslowski, has complications recovering from the knee injury.

Next comes problems with DT Ryan Sims, KC’s #1 pick in the ‘02 draft and, so far, a failed project.

This is a summary post. To read the full article, go here.

Wait, let me get this strai... (Below threshold)

Wait, let me get this straight:
You've insisted Maslowski absolutely sucks as a starter...until it looks like he won't come back, and now you say he's the KC's best LB?
And one quarter of the first preseason game, and you already pronounce Sims washed up. Wow.

Using that same logic, Denver had better cut Plummer now!

...at least KC's 1st team defense has only allowed 1 TD and helped KC to a 17-7 lead in our game. Denver didn't do quite as well as that in either game, right? But that's just talking smack. Dude, it's the preseason! The main priority of preseason is to figure out your 53-man roster and not get your starters hurt. KC is installing a new defense, as well. Denver is breaking in a new RB and dealing with changes on the O-line. Nothing in the first few games can really be considered indicative of the regular season games. Lots of teams look great in the preseason and have losing seasons. Other teams look lousy and win it all.

There's very little predictive value coming out of preseason games.

Nathan, if you were any dum... (Below threshold)
Tom:

Nathan, if you were any dumber you'd have trouble breathing.

And if you'd just read the whole article you'd see the simple logic that any 5 yr old is capable of following.

Maz may be KC's best LB, but he's still only a mediocre talent and could not start on a team with real LBs. Oh, like maybe DENVER.

See, beeing KC's "best" does not make him GOOD.

Moron.
