fantasy draft time!!

The wonderful sound of the local high school marching band is ringing thru the air again. That can only mean one thing, football season is upon us!

if your like me then your only worried about one thing right now, who do i draft first in my fantasy league ?? Of course there is no correct answer, but i will try and help narrow it down with a position by position breakdown. Today, i will give you my list of the the top 5 running backs, arguably the most important position in fantasy land.

1. LADANIAN TOMLINSON

This guy is the one and only feature in the San Diego offense, so he will be holding the ball a bit. He's like having a dominant running back and an extra receiver on your team. Not only did Tomlinson run for over 1,600 yards last year, he caught 100 balls. Need more proof that he's the number one guy? check the zero's on his pay-stub.

2. PRIEST HOLMES

With 27 touchdowns last year Holmes should be number one, but his recent talk of retirement scares me. however, if Priest stays healthy and motivated he should keep your team at the top of the pack.

3. AHMAN GREEN

Though you might not notice him up in Green Bay, Ahman Green just keeps getting better. He tallied more than 1,800 yards and (all apologies to Brett Favre) carried the packers last year. Expect him to do the same on the frozen tundra this year.

4. CLINTON PORTIS

Portis has thrived the last few years in the Broncos system, but then again so did Olandis Gary. Now that Portis is in Washington he has a significantly less effective offensive line to work with (see patrick ramsey's bruises). Joe Gibbs loves to run the ball, so Clinton will get the ball allot. He will continue to be one of the most effective backs in the business. however, i do expect a slight drop off from the former hurricane this season.

5. JAMAL LEWIS

I know i Know, he ran for 2,000 yards last year what is he doing in the five spot. Though he was a run away record breaking freight train last year, Lewis plays in a sluggish Raven offense were he will be focused on. He is not much of a receiver and 14 touchdowns last year just doesn't do it for me if i am going to take him with the top pick. Not to mention his looming drug trial in the middle of the season. did I mention i am a big believer in karma.

SLEEPER PICK

The best late round pick up this year may end up bieng Quentin Griffin. He has looked really good so far in preseason. Besides has Mike Shanahan ever let us down!
