Cowboys Release Carter

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that the Cowboys have released presumed starting QB Quincy Carter.

No details yet as to why.

Update: According to the Cowboy's official site, there will be a press conference at 11:30 pdt.

Some inside sources are hinting that it may have to do with the NFL substance abuse policy. There may be a second strike on Carter and Dallas is just unwilling to deal with a long suspension and the associated salary issues of a player who will not be on the field. We'll find out more hopefully from the press conference.
