Up and Down and Up and Down

Bummer of a loss Thursday night by our Amazin's. For those who didn't see it, Bobby Abreu took John Franco's second pitch and knocked it out of Citizen's Bank Park for a winning walk-off home run. That was the 10th walk-off home run Franco's given up, tops for any pitcher all-time. Considering that it came during Franco's 1072nd appearance -- second all time to some guy named Orosco you might have heard of -- it's not that awful.

Awful, though, describes the Mets leaving all those guys on base that night. That includes 4 left on base in scoring position with 2 out. I suppose we can't ask Richard Hidalgo to save us every night like he's been doing for the past couple of weeks.

Lost in the news of the loss was Matt Ginter's demotion to Norfolk after the game. He'll be back, though, at some point. Karim Garcia came back Friday night to replace him.
