While most of Los Angeles sports fans are glued to their SportsRadio for talk about the pending trade of Shaquille O'Neil to the Dallas Mavericks, rumors are beginning to float about another noteworthy announcement coming during the noon lunch hour.
When he goes on KMPC 1540 at 12:20 PM, will USC Wide Receiver Mike Williams announce his successful reinstatement? Rumors broke late yesterday that he has gotten a provisional thumbs up from the NCAA, although no official announcement has been made. When I start getting google hits for "Mike Williams USC Return" in large numbers, the first place I go are the USC chat rooms, which are abuzz for a late-June morning. An Auburn fan who saw just how great "BMW" is seems to think Mike Williams return as a Trojan is a fait accompli.
Speculation is that Williams may need to meet certain academic qualifications and/or sit out a game or two.
UPDATE: Williams is returning to USC...no confirmation from NCAA...therefore, no grade requirements...quotable, "Everyone in the Trojan Family thinks Im a horrible student anyways, so itll just be an opportunity for me to prove them wrong."
