Will Champ Car Lose Another Driver?

Fresh off his dominating Champ Car victory on the Milwaukee Mile Ryan Hunter-Reay has said that he would love to make the move to F1. Reay believes it would suit his driving style, and that his Champ Car road course experience would mark him out above driver who may be looking to make the move from the oval-only IRL.

"The great thing about Champ Cars is that we turn both ways!" he laughed, "I know I have just won on an oval, but that is not what racing is all about for me. I love the challenge of the different configurations of racing circuits. There's something magical about corners like Eau Rouge and 130R that you can never replicate at an oval.

"I'm having a fantastic time in Champ Cars, and I'm focused on winning the 2004 Championship, but Formula One has been my dream ever since I began karting as a boy. I have always aspired to achieve the most I can in everything I do, and F1 is simply the highest level of racing in the world - it's the pinnacle of motorsport, and that's where I want to be.

"Plus, F1 suits me. It fits my driving style as very fast, technical circuits - where you have to be absolutely on the limit and error-free for the entire race - deliver the most personal satisfaction for me."

He sounds very enthusiastic and confident. Just what Jacques Villeneuve needs, more competition for one of the few open seats in F1. Not that he has a chance, but its fun to hear the rumors, and denials.
