1. It’s always a good thing to see the Cowpatties falling apart from the inside, which is why I was overjoyed when they brought cancer WR Keyshawn Johnson on board.
Keyshawn is already working his special magic, infecting his teammates with rabid discontent. Fellow WR Antonio Bryant chucked his jersey at Coach Parcell’s head, after Parcells “mediated” an argument between the two by taking up Keyshawn’s side of the squabble.
Bryant was kicked out of practice and I’m expecting that he’ll soon become a former Cowboy.
Way to let the cancer spread, Bill.
Nice to see you haven't lost your touch, Keyshawn.
Keep up the good work, guys.
2. While I also love the media caused disruption over Tuna’s “Jap play” comment, the whole thing is moronic. I hate this kind of nonsense (ok except when it happens to the Girls).
Like when Shockey called Tuna a "homo" last year. It’s a feel good, politically correct frenzy over nothing. Ditto the Seau “I’m not a faggot” comment.
The Parcell's press conference was over 40 minutes long and all anyone could remember afterward was the word "Jap"? Focus on football, dammit, and dump the Thought - Police routine. Why is this news? Non-sports sports stories get on my nerves, and this kind is the worst.
On top of that, Parcell's remarks made perfect sense AND it wasn't him dropping bombs on Pearl Harbor. It was a legit remark. If some Japanese don't like it, let them take it up with the Emperor's relatives.
3. Denver's WR corp makes me nervous. I don't trust Lelie. I love Rod Smith, but I worry about his age. None of the TE's is especially reliable. None of the RBs will set the world on fire with his hands.
Right now things seem too middle of the road, like they were for most of Elway's career.
The only thing that keeps me from being a nervous wreck, is that I honestly believe Denver will have one of the best defenses in the league (maybe in league history) this season. Recent history shows that a so-so offense can be more than good enough with a D like that.
4. The “experts” are finally admitting what I told you back on April 1st:
I said, “The problem is that Mobley’s spine is STILL bruised -- he's at the tail end of what was expected to be a 5 - 6 month recovery and still not close to being healed -- and he may not be able to play this season . . .”
There’s also been a rumor (now refuted by Shanny) that, because of this, Mobley would be cut in a move to make rookie cap space. That’s always a possibility, especially if Denver needs to make emergency signings as the season goes on. But, I’m betting that Denver puts Mobley on IR this season and gives him until ‘05 to come back. If he can’t, then I’d expect him to be cut after next June 1.
5. What the heck is up with Blake Brockermeyer?
He’s a talented, powerful LT. He’s got plenty left in his tank. He’d be valuable insurance should Matt Lepsis falter in his move from RT to LT.
Yet he isn’t signed and it doesn’t seem that he’s even being looked into by other teams. S’up wit dat?
