I have to be sort of embarrassed as a USC Alum to read the comments made by former Trojan Linebacker Junior Seau in Miami this week:
While accepting the team's leadership award, as voted by Dolphins players, Seau used the slur when describing the camaraderie between him and his teammates. "This is a great group of guys we have on this team," Seau said. "You have to understand. In that locker room, there is no color barrier. We do not have a color barrier. We are a unit that cares. The reason I say cares is because it's so hard to let things go when you care."I would say love and everybody would say you're a faggot, but I'm not. We care in that locker room. My feminine side might come out once in a while, but I'm telling you, there is a lot of love in that locker room."
Unfortunately, such comments are not unexpected. As the color barriers has been torn down in sports, the homophobia barrier has not. Certainly, there are any number of former professional athletes who have come out--David Kopay, Esera Tuaolo come to mind--there are still no out atheletes in professional sports today. Someday, the gay community will have their own Jackie Robinson.

People who don't know what a phobia is, should probably avoid pretending to be shrinks. The way you use the word, anyone who doesn't joyously take a d*** up his butt is a homophobe. Sorry, moron, but declaring one's self not to be a faggot doesn't not mean that one is ful of unreasoning fear of faggots. It doesn't even mean that one hates, or otherwise condemns faggots. It's a simple statement of fact.
You Thought-Cops are pathetic. Anytime anyone so much as uses a word that you don't think isn't "nice", you have a screaming fit in the middle of the street.
Grow up. Your reaction to Junior's comments is no better than the what you accuse him of. He MUST accept you, regardless of what he may think or why he may think it. But you can self-righteously bash him at will for daring to so much as utter a word you personally dislike.
