Congradulations to the Detroit Pistons. They earned the NBA championship. This championship team proves that everyone working together can accomplish what seems to be impossible. For coaches everywhere this is a victory. Now the concept of team and not individuals can be preached.
What now for the Lakers? Will Coach Phil Jackson retire for good? Who will replace him as head coach? Will Jim Cleamons take the Ohio State head coaching job or will he get a chance to become the new Lakers head coach? Whoever takes over will not have an easy job ahead.
Where will Kobe go? Will his choice be Memphis? He could end up on any number of teams. But he would make the most money by staying a Laker. Whatever happens I look forward to listening to the two major press conferences in Kobe Bryants future. Too bad he didn't go to court everyday before each game of the finals. Maybe he would have played a lot better.
What will happen to Karl Malone? I feel a bit sad for the "mailman". He truly rates a championship ring.
Good-bye Gary Payton. He wasn't worth the million bucks. I know he hates the triangle offense but at least he could have faked like he was interested.
The Lakers organization has much to do over this off-season. Basketball is in the refrigerator. The lights are out. The eggs are cooling. The butter is getting hard and football is around the corner.
