I still can't believe Roy Jones Jr. got knocked out. Antonio Tarver only took 1 punch to dispatch him in the second round. Tarver threw a total of 7 punches that landed in the fight. No punch was bigger than a straight left hand. So where does that leave Roy Jones Jr.
Antonio Tarver gave Roy Jones Jr the shock and awe treatment. Roy Jones can't believe he lost and neither can a lot of people. He wants to find an excuse an explanation but he knows there isn't any defense for what happened to him. Since Roy Jones Jr. won most of his fights on athletic skill and not on boxing strategy. He was prone for a fight with the outcome of him being knocked out.
I never thought any fighter would dominate him with one punch. His skill was unbelievable. The key word is was. No longer can he afford to be careless and the fundamentals of the sport of boxing in which he neglected because he was a superior athlete now is gone. He will have to rely on strategy.
I saw Roy Jones being interviewed on Jb Brown's show. He was showing how he would defend against a fighter. He had his hands down by his side and the question was posed what if they throw a punch aren't you open. Roy Jones response was bob and weave and follow up with counterpunching. Roy Jones forgot to move his head. Roy Jones forgot to keep his hands and feet moving. Roy Jones really never relied on the fundamentals related to boxing. Antonio Tarver found his head not moving hands down one punch and the pound for pound bravado is history.
In my opinion, Roy Jones can't and won't stay down too long. His ego now mute will rise up again and he will get back into the ring versus Antonio Tarver. Hopefully this time he can last longer than 2 rounds. Roy Jones Jr needs to come prepared for the next fight or he might go to sleep again.

"Since Roy Jones Jr. won most of his fights on athletic skill and not on boxing strategy."
That is not a sentence. There should be some quality control.
