NBA's Double Standard... Garnett Should Be Out Too

I'm sure many of you saw the incident between Anthony Peeler and Kevin Garnett. Both threw elbows in a situation, but only one is getting suspended. I believe this is wrong and a poor reflection of the NBA and David Stern's desire for the highest ratings possible during playoffs time. How many people would watch a KG-less Timberwolves team take on the Kings?

The NBA's double standard on its super-stars disturbs me. Not all the time, but you see it enough to raise an eyebrow a few times each year. To be honest, I don't know the exact ruling, but from my understanding if a player hits another player it is grounds for suspension. The commentators during the game tried to differentiate between a blow to the body (KG) and a blow to the head (AP), but I never heard that rule before (kissing Dave Stern's ass?).

I'm assuming the NBA and Stern aren't brave enough or honest enough to act justly and suspend both of them, or at least only fine both of them. If AP deserves to be suspended, so does KG.

On an interesting sidenote, Kenny Smith afterwards made an interesting and I believe correct observation on the incident. The TNT staff was wondering why two close friends would go at it, but looking at the game tape Smith showed how AP got elbowed by Wally Szczerbiak in the mouth and then turned around thinking it was Wally (or whoever did it) and elbowed the person behind him. It was KG that got the elbow in the gut, so KG was then confused at AP's actions. He retaliates and elbows AP in the mid-section, and AP gives him the forearm hit to the head. Hopefully, they realize the confusion and settle things soon.
