While growing up one of the greatest feelings in the world was being picked first on a team. Sometimes you would even get a chance to be a captain. Others are not so lucky and on occasion you might think being picked last is the worst. Think again

If a girl is picked in front of you. Yeah that's right a girl. YOu would be laughed off the playground.

The statement. " a girl will never beat a guy". (And all the guys nod and all the girls shake there head no. ) This statement can cause much friction. It has and always will cause friction.

While Parker won the dunk contest. The first female to win a dunk contest and not the last. She wasn't all powerful but just seeing her dunk and winning was good. I remember a time when people said Girls will never dunk. This statement a stereotypical comment related to women was broken not only did she dunk but beat a few guys while doing it.

Don't worry guys you won't lose your masculinity if you watch women play sports. I've watched women play sports and think that in some aspects of the game they are superior. As far as coaching them they listen more intently and carry out the instructions and don't complain as much as the men.

Our team needed a kicker and after some testing she was the best kicker. I choose the most consistent performer on the field. My philosophy is anything can happen, anything is possible. But For something to happen someone has to be willing to do it. She was willing to do it and she tested out to be the best.

It's not so much a girl wants to be equal with the guys in a sport. It's having an opportunity to try.

I pissed off a coach who had been coaching for 25 years. And by letting a girl become the JV placekicker caused him to yell and scream and at one point I thought he was going to have a heart attack. She was immediately dropped from the JV football team. She never got a chance to play one game. I know that in some games we could have used a kicker.

Why was he so hysterical? It's just football game. She would've been in maybe 6 plays a game. A person no matter gender should be given the same opportunity to secure a position and all comers no matter race, color, gender, the only critieria is related to being skillful enough to get the job done!
