Bills to Name Mularkey Head Coach

Mike Mularkey is now the former offensive coordinator of the Pittsburgh Steelers. ESPN is reporting that Mularkey will be named head coach of the Buffalo Bills tomorrow.

Now that that is out of the way, some more interesting moves will be forthcoming. Will Defensive Coordinator Jerry Gray be retained, or will he be released to allow Dick LeBeau to step in. Or will LeBeau bolt for Pittsburgh? And what will happen to Drew Bledsoe?

The real loser(s) here are the assistant coaches whose teams went deep into the playoffs. Charlie Weiss and Romeo Crenell were both on the short list for the Bills, and both supposedly had a solid, but brief, first interview. After those interviews, they are off limits until the Patriots are eliminated from the playoffs. I understand why the rule is there, but it sure denies some potential head coaches a significant opportunity.
